Adventures in Marketing Analytics was started by Jeremy Paytas as a way to share his life experiences in the world of Marketing Analytics
How it all began
- My dad was an Accountant, so I thought I’d follow in his footsteps
- After my first Accounting class I soon realized I did not want to do that for the rest of my life (no offense Accounting friends!)
- I really enjoyed my Marketing classes. It had the right blend of business, psychology, and creativity for my liking
So my first foray came in college at Cleveland State University where I was lucky enough to have excellent Marketing professors from seasoned industry veterans in both Advertising and major Marketing roles at big corporations
After graduating with my Bachelor’s in Marketing and earning MBA I was lucky enough to
- Get my first job in the Marketing department of a regional bank
- Learn how to code in SAS from who would become a very good friend
- Learn how to build and execute Marketing campaigns
That was just the beginning. Soon it led to amazing opportunities that included
- Starting a new campaign management function and team at a local marketing agency
- Building that team out and hiring truly amazing people
- Moving into management and a director role
- Exploring data and data visualization through SQL and Tableau
- Becoming Director of Business Intelligence
- Consulting for world class companies
- Becoming an Adjunct Professor at Baldwin Wallace University
I hope to use this blog as a way to build share a lot of the knowledge I’ve accrued (see, I can’t shake all of the accounting out of me), share with others that might be interested, and document my journey along the way
